Moorea is the sister island of Tahiti. It’s a peaceful location with two huge beautiful bays: Cook’s Bay and Opunohu Bay. From each dive location you can see the mountain reliefs the island has to offer. When you dive, you’ll immerse yourself in its rich coral reef ecosystem and vibrant array of marine life. Here diving and snorkeling the crystal-clear lagoon will have you encounter stingrays, marine turtles, and the very social lemon sharks.
DIVE SITES
Moorea is rich with marine and coral life – a true underwater paradise. Here you can snorkel or scuba dive its crystal-clear lagoon.
The Tiki
Located at the very northwestern tip of Moorea, The Tiki is known for its changing and rapid currents. Here it’s home to a school of sharks who are welcoming enough to allow you to peacefully observe them.
Vaiare
Located in front of the ferry docks, this is one dive site where you’ll have the opportunity to observe a beautiful diversity of marine species. It’s here you’ll meet stingrays, black tip sharks, turtles, schools of barracuda, and lemon sharks.
The Canyon Of Opunohu
The magnificent Opunohu pass is suitable for all types of divers no matter their experience. Here you’ll have the chance to discover the exceptional Jardin des Roses nestled at a depth of 40 meters. This site features canyons, drop-offs, overhangs, and even caves.
Take to the eight summits of Moorea for a hike or choose to use pedal power instead. You can even stop to check out its rich arts and culture scene.
Hiking
The eight summits that make up Moorea feature a magnificent ancient volcanic crater, which over time has become a lush valley. Its contours and winding tracks have made it an ideal location for hikers to trek out over, equally so, for horseback riders and quad bikers.
E-bike
There’s 62km (38.5 miles) of bike track to explore using our eco-friendly E-bikes. Head out on two wheels and explore all the riches of Opunohu Bay including the Belvedere Lookout, its Pineapple plantations, and Polynesian temples. Choose to ride out on your own or on supervised half- and full-day tours.
Art & culture

Fly to Moorea
Moorea’s close proximity to Tahiti makes it an easy location to reach by plane. Air Tahiti offers 15-minute flights between the two islands several times a day. It also offers regular return flights from Moorea to Huahine, Raiatea, and Bora Bora.
Ferry to Moorea
Use Tahiti’s ferry terminal to sail across the blue waters to Moorea island. The terminal is located in the town center of Papeete (about a 10-minute ride from the airport). Each way takes approximately 30 minutes and costs between USD$11-$14.
Transfer to hotel
There are a number of car, scooter, and even bicycle rental agencies you can book to help get you from the port of Vaiare or Temae airport. Taxis or private transfers should be arranged in advance when booking your accommodation.
